352: Through Fire

It's when you turn to look at him
across a chasm
filled with fire
that you see his eyes clearly.
You thought you saw them
in that clearing in the woods
brimming with moonlight.
You thought you saw them
when your glass of wine
clinked against his.
You thought you saw them
when he took your hands
and taught you to fly.
Through the smoke
and twisting heated air
you see them for the first time
and you know
that the sun is most beautiful
when it sets.
