341: In a Dying World

Would you raze
a castle to the grounds
and blame the owner?
Would you watch
a starving beggar
and blame them
for their own poverty?
Would you hear
the cries of children,
still unborn,
and blame the mothers
who didn't want them?
Humanity
isn't inherently evil. Golding
wrote a satire. People
aren't corrupted.
We're products of the culture
that has bred us,
and if the tree yields bad apples
the tree itself
must be rotting at its roots.
So tear it up. Expose
the cracks and breaks
and hidden bacteria.
Show us
where the blame lies —
not with the owner,
the beggar,
the mother.
Show us.
Who burns? Who reduces
the world to poverty?
Who makes children
in a dying world?
