318: Hymn to Hestia

Long may she reign;
may she always pick herself back up again.
May flowers bloom in her steps
and the sun shine upon her crown.
May she live all her allotted days
in peace and warmth,
and may she ward herself from evils
on dark and dreary days.
May she enjoy the silence of the morning
and the bustle in the kitchen.
May she love the blankets and the pillows,
the bookshelf by the sofa,
and the cupboard full of spices —
the lawn, still green in autumn,
and the porch with worn recliners.
May she find joy in what she wears,
in what she eats and drinks and read,s
in the fresh air she breathes
and the quiet hours she sleeps.
May she find joy
in being human.
