309: Part II: Rainfall

the trees shake with it
and the earth soaks it up
flowers bending beneath its weight
bowing to the heavens
drinking up all
the cruel skies have to offer
the water is cold
hard
uncaring
yet it tastes somewhere sweet
and the drumming of droplets
merges to blanket the world
swathing our senses
and so we drown
