The hidden side of the moon
is red.
He doesn't know how he knows;
he's never been there, never seen it,
doesn't know anyone
who's seen it either —
but it's in the quiet stare of the one white eye
slowly blinking over the course of a month:
there are veins and receptors and inverted images
flashing like light, photons, wavelengths
skipping through space into infinity.
It's a living pulsing thing,
and live things bleed.
The hidden side of the moon
is red.
