280: Angel Wings and Stardust

You pull him close in private
and wrap your arms around his waist.
You stand in silence just behind him
so he can't observe your face.
If he saw you smiling, he would also have to see
the fangs and claws you're hiding
when he looks straight at your face.
He would have to notice
that there's more than hollow bones and feathers:
centuries of hiding
your kinship with the Furies;
he thinks you're angel wings and stardust
because he still can't see your face.
