255: Transient Moments

A movie paused
in the middle of a chase
becomes a tableau: grass, branches, startled deer
whizzing by in streaks of light now caught
in a web of ink that weaves,
capturing the silence of frozen seconds,
walking our gaze from one object to the next —
the leaf caught in a shiver,
the hoof lifted to dart,
the twig seconds away from snapping, still
straining to hold, fibers twining together
more fragile than the time in which they break.
Chase if you must,
but the moment is lost.
