249: Surrealistic Humanoids

Surrealist art fascinates me. I come across an unnamed and unattributed work of art that looks like it has been made digitally. A humanoid with skin of cracked bark strides forward, towering over the cliffs in the foreground. Bulbous sacks of swirling red — clay, fire, turned to glass — erupts from its back, trailing tails of embers through the air, while mushrooms of iridescent blue sprout from the sacks. It looks like a process of alienation, of humane environment turned inhumane. Turned foreign. Turned survivalist. There are no humans but the humanoid. It gazes at the world with lidless eyes. It cannot unsee what it has already seen.
