It's when she buys you a drink

Because she knows you'll stay home otherwise

It's that memory of walking home

Along the riverside

Thinking for a moment

That this is better than any date

It's that surprise Christmas card

At the bottom of the letterbox

Or that belated happy birthday

You thought they'd forgotten

It's when you're on the train home

And it's only when you're out of the city

That you remember to text

To make sure they're okay
