Tulips were delivered to my door today. I don't have a vase for them. I put them in an empty tomato sauce jar.

I keep thinking about that Winterson novel. The first chapter. Or the second. It makes me uncomfortable. It starts with a tulip.

Maybe 'uncomfortable' is the wrong word. Maybe I should look beyond the immediate story. It is a love story. To the self.
28th March 2021
The tulips flower in the morning. In the evening, they shrivel up and close. I didn't know they were sensitive to light. I didn't know I was.
