He came towards me, humming, dressed in green,

and greeted me with a nod, a smile, and a

"Good morning".

And a good morning it was indeed;

the sky had cleared, the air was crisp,

and I had finished my work for the day.

I smiled and nodded in return, in our mutual understanding

of what that phrase had meant, and went on down the hill.

Ahead I saw the Firth open into the North Sea, and thoughts,

likened to images with a backdrop of violins

as a ship rises from the waters and sails,

seeking new adventures between the stars east of the moon

with light and fire close enough to touch, though never burning,

as I explore and wonder and marvel

at the uncounted miracles in the shrouds of the universe,

sprung out of the soil around my feet.

A good morning indeed.
