The sun came out today

to sit in my window for a while.

He warmed the corner of my room

and gently encouraged me

to water my plants.

When I looked closer,

I found

that even the Christmas rose

was sprouting leaves.

So we talked for a while,

the sun and I.

I spoke about the world

in here,

and he spoke about the world

out there.

The differences pleased us

as we parted ways, and I

sat down to write his words

into another story

for other ears.
