152: Loss

Like an octopus in deep waters
it overwhelms you
with inky blackness
when night settles and there is nothing
left to do,
to keep your hands
from restlessness.
Only when the octopus creeps away
to hide among the rocks
does the blackness fade
into forgiving sleep.
